Stainless Steel Introduce
Inconel 617 is a mixture of nickel, chromium, cobalt and molybdenum, high levels of nickel (44.5% minimum) and chromium (20-24%) give this alloy good resistance to reducing and oxidizing media. Cobalt (10-15%) and molybdenum (8-10%) combine to strengthen the solid solution. A small amount of aluminum (0.8-1.5%) is also included and works with chromium to provide good resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. One of the alloy’s key properties is that it maintains high levels of strength even at elevated temperatures without compromising its corrosion resistance. The material is also very functional, as it can be easily formed and welded using traditional techniques.
Here are the standard grade and execution standards for Inconel 617 in various countries:
American standard grade: UNS N06617 Execution standards: AMS 5887: Melting material for nickel-based high-temperature alloys. AMS 5888: Inconel 617 plates, sheets, and strips produced by hot rolling, cold drawing, and hot forming. AMS 5889: Seamless and welded Inconel 617 tubes. AMS 5608: Inconel 617 bars and shapes. ASTM B166: Standard specification for nickel and nickel alloy rod, bar, wire, and strip. ASME SB-166: Same as above.
European standard grade: NiCr22Co12Mo9 (2.4663) Execution standards: EN 10095: Technical delivery conditions for hot rolled and forged stainless steel and heat resisting steel and technical conditions for the delivery of heat resisting alloys.
